Interim Superintendent of Schools

Bradley Hawk

To the Community Members of Cortland, DeKalb, and Malta; Parents, Students, and DeKalb CUSD 428 Staff:

Welcome to the DeKalb Community Unit School District 428 web site.

I am honored to serve as your Superintendent of Schools, supporting over 6,200 students in three great communities.  There is much to look forward to in the 2016-2017 school year as we continue to realize improvement in curriculum and technology.  This work has all been done, and will continue to be done, with one goal in mind. That is, to educate our students to reach their potential while preparing them to contribute to our global society.  This is our district’s mission, and all activity undertaken throughout the school district is a concerted effort to accomplish this mission.

District 428 works collaboratively with parents, Kishwaukee College, Northern Illinois University and community partners to provide the best possible education for each and every student.  I believe the district hires and retains high quality and caring educators and staff to provide a multitude of programs and services for our children in a safe learning environment.

As a partner of DeKalb CUSD 428, I hope you will take the opportunity to become engaged with our schools.  It is our desire to work together with parents and community partners to support our children.  The best way to get involved is to start at the school site.  Our principals can help guide you to the many opportunities that exist.  No amount of involvement is too small!

The staff of DeKalb CUSD 428 takes the responsibility of educating the children in our school community very seriously, and we appreciate your trust.  I look forward to the 2016-2017 school year, and the opportunity to work with you in building partnerships that support the education of our children.
